What it is

Your own cartilage, prepared in the room.

Mytocel MSK® is built on an established tissue-processing technology called Rigenera®.

In plain English

A small sample of your own cartilage, made into a suspension.

Mytocel MSK uses a small sample of your own ear cartilage. It is prepared in the clinic, during the same appointment, into a suspension that your clinician injects into the joint.

The suspension contains living cells and the natural matrix from your own cartilage.1

Nothing is grown in a laboratory and nothing is sent away. The preparation is mechanical, in the room, in minutes.

Why the ear

Why the sample comes from behind your ear.

Ear cartilage can be reached under local anaesthetic and sampled without disturbing the joint being treated.

Three tiny samples, each about the size of a seed, from behind your ear, under local anaesthetic. No stitches. The area typically heals within one to two weeks.

How it compares

Different from PRP, hyaluronic acid and lab-grown cell treatments.

Compared with PRP and hyaluronic acid

PRP uses your blood; hyaluronic acid is a lubricant; Mytocel MSK uses your own cartilage cells. No study has yet compared them directly.

Compared with lab-grown cell treatments

Unlike some cell treatments, nothing is grown in a lab and there is no second operation.

Your clinician decides

Whether it suits you is decided by the clinician who examines you and looks at your scans. Actomed does not assess patients.

Actomed supplies and trains UK clinics; it does not assess or treat patients. These clinics can arrange an assessment. Being seen at one is not a decision to have any particular treatment.
