What to expect
One appointment, then home the same day.
The whole Mytocel MSK® treatment happens in one appointment, usually around half an hour, under local anaesthetic.
Step by step
What happens, from first appointment to follow-up.

Step 01
Consultation and imaging
A clinician assesses your joint, your history and your scans, and tells you whether Mytocel MSK is a reasonable option for you. Whether it suits you is decided by the clinician who examines you. Actomed does not assess patients.

Sample from behind the ear
Three tiny samples, each about the size of a seed, are taken from behind your ear under local anaesthetic. No stitches.

Prepared in the room
The samples are prepared mechanically in a single-use device into a suspension of tiny cartilage micrografts. Nothing is grown in a laboratory and nothing is sent away.

Injection into the joint
Your clinician injects the prepared suspension into the joint, then talks you through aftercare.

Your clinician decides
Find a clinic that offers Mytocel MSK
Actomed supplies and trains UK clinics; it does not assess or treat patients. These clinics can arrange an assessment. Being seen at one is not a decision to have any particular treatment.
